Overview
About security advisory and risk assessment
Many organisations know security matters but are not sure where to start, or are pulled in different directions by customers, auditors and vendors. Without a clear view of the biggest risks, budget goes on the wrong things and important gaps stay open.
Cenvox security advisory gives you an independent view of your risks and a practical plan to improve. Our advice draws on hands-on penetration testing, security monitoring and incident response work, so it reflects how attacks actually happen and how they are detected. Where audits are involved, our compliance readiness support helps you prepare evidence; we do not perform certification audits.
A typical starting point
You need an independent view of your biggest risks and a realistic plan, or want to know whether an attack would be detected and handled.
The security problem
Why security programmes stall
No clear view of the biggest risks
Without a risk assessment, budget follows the loudest vendor or the latest headline.
Tools without detection or a plan
Logs are collected but nobody has defined what to look for, or what happens when an alert fires.
Customer and audit pressure
Questionnaires and audits arrive faster than the organisation can build the controls behind the answers.
Plans that are too big to deliver
Generic roadmaps that ignore budget and team size are filed away and never acted on.
What’s covered

- Security review of planned changes
Area 03
Detection and incident readiness
- Review of logging and monitoring coverage
- Which attacks your current tools would and would not detect
- Incident response plan and escalation review
- Tabletop exercise recommendations
Area 04
Security roadmap and policy
- Prioritised 6–18 month improvement roadmap

- Security questionnaire and customer due-diligence support
- Budget and resourcing guidance
Our approach
How an advisory engagement works
Step 1: Understand
Interviews and document review to understand your business, systems, data and obligations.
Step 2: Assess
Current controls are compared with a recognised framework, and technical findings are reviewed where available.
Step 3: Prioritise
Risks are ranked by likelihood and business impact, not by how alarming they sound.
Step 4: Plan
A realistic roadmap, sized for your budget and team, with clear owners.
Step 5: Review
Findings and the roadmap are walked through with your leadership and technical teams, and next steps agreed.
Frameworks we work with
- NIST Cybersecurity Framework 2.0
- Govern, Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond and Recover.
- ISO/IEC 27001 and 27002
- The international standard for information security management and its control guidance.
- CIS Critical Security Controls
- A prioritised set of practical security safeguards.
- DPDP Act, 2023
- India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, considered where personal data is involved.
What you receive
What an advisory engagement delivers
Risk assessment report
Your main cybersecurity risks, explained in business terms, with a risk register.
Request a security consultationArchitecture review findings
Design weaknesses and practical improvements for networks, cloud and identity.
Detection and readiness review
What your current monitoring would catch, the gaps, and how to close them.
Security roadmap
Prioritised actions with owners, effort and timing.
Policy set
Core security policies tailored to your organisation, where needed.
Good to know
Advisory and support, not certification
We help you understand risks, plan improvements and prepare for audits. We do not certify organisations or perform certification audits; that is done by accredited certification bodies and independent auditors. See compliance readiness support.
Good to know
Advice grounded in testing and response
Our advisory work draws on findings from hands-on work such as penetration testing, cloud security assessments and managed detection and response, so recommendations reflect how your systems actually behave, not only what policies say.
Before we start
What we need to get started
- A sponsor from leadership who owns the outcome.
- Time with IT, operations and key business owners for interviews.
- Existing policies, network and cloud diagrams, and recent audit or test reports, if available.
- Details of customer, contractual or regulatory requirements you need to meet.

Questions about security advisory and risk assessment
Still have a question?
Ask about scope, timing or cost for security advisory and risk assessment, even if you are not ready to commission work yet.
Contact our teamHow is a risk assessment different from a penetration test?
A penetration test checks specific systems for exploitable technical weaknesses. A risk assessment looks across the organisation, including people, processes and technology, to identify and prioritise the risks that matter most. The two work well together.
Can you help us prepare for ISO/IEC 27001 or SOC 2?
Yes. We help with gap assessments, prioritised remediation and evidence from security testing. The certification audit itself is performed by an accredited certification body or independent auditor.
Do you review our monitoring and incident readiness?
Yes. We review which logs and alerts you have, which attack techniques they would and would not detect, and whether your incident response plan and contacts are ready. See incident response support for readiness exercises and investigation help.
What is the difference between security advisory and compliance support?
Advisory looks at your overall risk and builds a roadmap. Compliance readiness support prepares the security testing evidence that auditors and customers ask for. They are often combined, and neither is a certification audit.
